Adam Sandler wrote ‘The Hannuka Song’ in 1994 with some of his co-stars from SNL. It went on to become certified Gold by the RIAA and is sometimes referred to as ‘The Chanuka Song’.

He first performed the song on SNL during their Weekend Update in December 1994. 

 The song is a way to help children who feel left out at Christmas time find solace in the fact that there are others like them and for them to have another holiday song. 

‘The Hannuka Song’ lists the names of famous Americans and fictional characters and identifies them as Jewish.

The song has been updated three times up to 2015 and has spawned a few spoofs by Jimmy Fallon with Will Ferrell on SNL in 1998. It has also been covered on Broadway and by a Jewish-Australian rock band.
