Wizard World Chicago Brings Heavy Doses of Inspiration and Nostalgia

For fans of pop culture, there are few places in the world like the halls of conventions to really bring that feeling of ‘home’. Of course, most fans travel from around the world just to make it to those halls, but the journey is an important part of the experience.

The comics we read, tv series’ and films we watch, the art we collect, and the books we collect all bring us closer. The pop culture realm creates a family of would be strangers and conventions like Wizard World give us a place to come together.

In a number of shows across the US, fans are able to travel to cities in markets big and small to meet their favorite celebrities, and most important, each other. The bonds made at Wizard World are strong enough to last a lifetime.

Chicago is a major weekend for Wizard World, a four-day convention where creativity pulses through everyone in attendance. It’s tangible in everything from the art and collectibles on display to those fans in attendance who are soaking it all in.

With celebrities like Ian Somerhalder, Tom Welling, Will Friedle, Graham McTavish, Pom Klementieff, Charisma Carpenter, and Michael Rooker in attendance – there was an avenue for every fan.

Some of the major panels in Chicago were the Outlander panel, the Boy Meets World reunion panel and the Smallville panel. Fans also got a one of a kind look at the upcoming sci-fi film Kin, and a special poster to commemorate the evening.

From those exciting panels and meet and greets to celebrity photo ops and live entertainment – Wizard World continues to set itself apart from the other conventions out there. We spoke with CEO John Maatta in St. Louis this year and he discussed plans the con had to continue focusing on a fan-driven experience. It’s not just about bringing in numbers with Wizard, it’s about making a lasting impact on each and every person who walks into the convention hall.
